Our History

R.M. Buck Builders, Inc. was established in 1977 by Bob Buck. Bob actually started his building career in the early 1960’s working for builders in northern New England when he was in high school. He learned carpentry skills at a young age and became lead framer for a builder in southern New Hampshire in 1974, before forming his own business in 1977. R.M. Buck Builders, Inc. framed over a million square feet of high-end townhouses in the ski resorts of Vermont and eventually became a General Contractor for those projects and custom homes. R.M. Buck also supplied his homes with custom cabinets from  their in-house shop.

In an effort to find a warmer climate, Bob moved his family to Charleston, South Carolina in January of 1990 and realized the need for quality custom cabinets for the homes being built on Kiawah and Seabrook Islands.

Island Cabinet Company, Inc. was born and Bob and his wife Renae have been supplying furniture grade custom cabinets for some of the finest homes on Kiawah Island for the last fifteen years.

In the early 1990’s, Bob started renovating and building homes on Johns, Kiawah, Seabrook Island. Bob and Renae’s son Ryan now works with the company in a construction management capacity and he takes pride in offering quality construction management services in a high end custom home market.

Bob, Renae and all of us at R.M. Buck Builders, Inc. will continue the business of building custom homes, renovations and custom cabinetry and hope that we can serve you in the future for a complete quality custom package. We feel that along with our many years in the building business, our in-house family management team, and our strong attention to detail and quality, we can provide our clients with the best possible product.
